Professor Trevor Lithgow leads a research group in the Biosciences Precinct at Monash University. The group includes postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students as well as ARC Super Science Fellows. Professor Lithgow is an ARC Federation Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.
The Lithgow lab has expertise in molecular biology, cellular biology, microbiology and bioinformatics. Current research projects in cellular microbiology include the discovery of new protein transport machines in bacteria, understanding the assembly of protein transport machines, and dissecting the targeting pathways for bacterial effector proteins transported into human cells.
